What Is QPR?

Question - Persuade - Refer

QPR is a 90-minute training designed for anyone in the community to learn essential skills that can help someone at risk of suicide. By asking one straightforward question, you could save a life. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer—three simple steps that anyone can master to help prevent suicide.

“Remember, we are only responsible for what we know at the time we know it, not for things we will learn later on.”

- QPR Gatekeeper

Similar to how CPR or the Heimlich Maneuver saves lives, QPR teaches people to recognize the signs of a suicide crisis and respond by questioning, persuading, and referring the individual to get help. Each year, thousands of Americans are stepping up and learning how to save the lives of friends, colleagues, family members, and neighbors.

The best prevention for suicide is intervention. We don’t need to solve the problems alone, but we do need to become part of the solution.
